China’s Ministry of Education has introduced 29 new undergraduate (大学本科) majors to the higher education catalogue (目录) to meet national strategies and the needs of high-quality development. These new majors include marine science and technology, health and medical security, and smart molecular engineering (智能分子工程). To meet market demands, majors like international cruise (邮轮) management and aviation sports have been added. AI’s influence is clear with majors such as AI education and digital drama. The ministry has also set up a special system to quickly introduce new majors in important areas, guiding six universities, including Beihang University, to offer a major in low-altitude technology and engineering.
