Editor’s note: The fourth week of April is now set as National Reading Week. Reading is an important avenue (途径) for humans to acquire knowledge, expand wisdom and cultivate virtues (培养道德). This year, China introduced a new policy on Feb 1 to encourage public reading, helping build a learning-oriented (学习型) society and nation. To support this goal, we are starting a new program to show the fun and power of reading. It brings together interviews, bookcrossing and community service activities. This week, we invite sci-fi writer Bao Shu to share his personal reading journey and explain how reading has shaped what he is today.
