Editor’s note: The fourth week of April is now set as National Reading Week. Reading is an important avenue (途径) for humans to acquire knowledge, expand wisdom and cultivate (培养) virtues. This year, China introduced a new policy on Feb 1 to encourage public reading, helping build a learning-oriented (学习型) society and nation. To support this goal, we are starting a new program to highlight the fun and power of reading. It brings together interviews, bookcrossing and community service activities. This week, we invite Chen Nianxi, known as “miner poet (矿工诗人)”, to share his personal reading journey and explain how reading has shaped who he is today.
