在公园等旅游景区里竖立英文的“游园须知”能帮助外国友人更好地游览景点。但是在这些英文标识中存在一些不规范的译法。笔者现以北京市万芳公园的英文游园须知为例进行点评，仅供参考。

　　英文原文（节选）:This park is an example of our culture and a public place of entertainment and recreation. Please heed the following:

　　* Keep the park clean and neat. No littering. Place all seed hulls, food wrappers, waste paper, cigarettes butts, etc. in the trash cans provided.

　　* With the exception of wheel chairs and children’s vehicles, all other vehicles are prohibited.

　　* Any illegal activities are strictly prohibited in the park.

　　* Hours of Operation

　　修改意见:

　　1. heed意思是“注意，留心”，有警告甚至威胁的口吻，如:Heed what I’m going to say.（注意仔细听我要说的话）。言外之意：你要是不听一切后果自负！公园当局是没有权利训斥游客的。

　　2. Keep the park clean and neat.（保持公园清洁）。由于这也是公园员工的职责，如果需要提醒游人注意可以说:It is the duty of everyone to keep the park clean。

　　3. neat意思是“整洁的，简洁的”，在这里用得不对。No littering是一条常见的标识，提醒人们不要随地乱扔废物，但往往印在食品的包装上，公园一般无须这样的标识。

　　4. With the exception...一句中，prohibit一词，不但语气太重，用法也有误。prohibit应该是禁止某种做法或事情，而不能指代车辆。可以改为:No entrance for vehicles except wheelchairs，children’s bikes, or prams. （pram 是手推童车，children’s vehicles 可以指运送儿童的车辆）。

　　5. Any illegal activities ...（公园里严格禁止任何非法活动）不需要这样表达。如果是非法活动，在何处都应该禁止。此外，从语言上讲，这里的any一词用法有误，要表达类似的内容，应该用No...is permitted的句型。strictly一词则有点画蛇添足，可以省去。

　　6. “开放时间”译为hours of operation是不正确的，应当改为opening hours。
