Organizers information
Founded in 1900, the American Booksellers Association (ABA) is headquartered in Tarrytown, New York. The ABA is a not-for-profit organization devoted to meeting the needs of its core members of independently owned bookstores with retail storefront locations through advocacy, education, research and information dissemination. The association also hosts the annual ABA Convention in conjunction with BookExpo America each spring.
The core programmes of AAP deal with matters of general interest: intellectual property; new technology and telecommunications issues of concern to publishers; censorship and libel; international freedom to publish; funding for education and libraries. Each of AAP's divisions and industry-wide committees deals with a specific market area: elementary and secondary instructional materials; higher education publishing; professional and scholarly publishing; freedom to read and the international marketplace.
