THE Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG)(北京奥组委) said on April 20 that 2,000 more volunteer drivers are needed for the 2008 Games. Altogether 7,000 volunteer drivers are needed and BOCOG finished testing 4,922 of them in March. Testing of another 2,000 will begin in October.
BOCOG said that 2,166 of the 4,922 volunteers could hardly speak English. So the new volunteers will need to have at least four years of study in university, and they can use English to communicate with foreigners. The volunteer driver work team will hand out different textbooks to the volunteers, according to their English level. It will also give them training classes to raise their English abilities.
