BRITISH students struggling to afford to take language courses could get help following the launch of a scholarship scheme. The Suzanne Furstner Foundation scholarship was announced last week by Cactus Tefl, a UK-based advice and admissions service for TEFL courses. The foundation also helps fund school study trips, provides course books and arranges free courses for organizations.

NIGERIAN novelist Chinua Achebe won the 2007 Man Booker International Prize for fiction on June 13. Achebe has written more than 20 books and is best known for his novel Things Fall Apart and Anthills of the Savannah. His work centers on the way Africans are depicted in the West and the effects of colonization on African societies. The prize is given for a body of work rather than one book. 21ST
