TODAY more French business people are using English terminology such as “le job” “le newsletter” “le web” and “l’email”, according to EL Gazette. In order to maintain the purity of the French language, French businesses, led by Gaullist MP Jacques Myard, launched a campaign earlier this year against using English terminology in the workplace.
Myard’s campaign said that 7 percent of French firms use English in emails. Multinationals send English emails to their workers in France regardless of whether or not they can understand them.
The French government does not regulate the choice of language in publications by individuals or private organizations. However, the French government promotes the use of French in the territory of the Republic, in the European Union and globally.
