BRITISH Schools Minister Jim Knight handed out Languages Ladder awards recently to celebrate the achievements of those who took the Languages Ladder Asset Languages exams last year. The Languages Ladder was developed in 2005 to provide an opportunity for UK learners to have their foreign language skills recognized in small steps. So far over 100,000 qualifications have been awarded to child and adult learners in UK.
Vietnam reveals English plan for primary schools

THE Vietnamese government is considering a plan to teach English in primary schools. At present, English is only taught as a compulsory subject in high schools. The Ministry of Interior has recommended the Ministry of Education and Training consider a proposal for primary school curricula to include English language lessons to enhance Vietnam’s ability to integrate into the world.
