Long holiday breaks UK pupils' reading habits

英国呼吁缩短暑假以提高小学生读写能力

ACCORDING to the London-based Institute for Public Policy Research, pupils lose some of their reading skills during the long summer break. Therefore, school summer holidays should be shortened to boost literacy. The institute is calling for the school year to be divided into five eight-week terms, with a fortnight's holiday between each. This will allow pupils to sustain their education more easily over the course of the year.
