Malaysian teachers lack English skills

THE Malaysian Education Ministry has revealed that about 35 percent of teachers teaching science and mathematics lack a good command of the English language. The Malaysian government provides all types of assistance to these teachers to improve their English skills. The Education Ministry will send the teachers overseas so that they achieve a better English language proficiency.

THE UK Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) has been accused of censorship after it removed the Carol Ann Duffy poem “Education for Leisure”, which contains references to knife crime, from the GCSE syllabus. Poets said such censorship missed the point of the poem, which they said could help children debate the causes of street violence.
