ON your marks, get set, cook! Last week, chefs from 24 different countries competed in what has become known as the "Olympics of food", or the Bocuse d’Or. The biannual culinary contest, held in Lyon, France, gives chefs five-and-a-half hours to prepare beef and seafood dishes in front of 1,000 fans and 24 judges. At Olympic sporting events, China, the US and Russia often rule the medal stand. But at the Bocuse d' Or, European countries usually finish on top. France has won the competition six times, but this year, Norway took the top prize, beating France on a technicality. According to The New York Times, French chef Philippe Mille brought out his fish dish one minute late, costing his team 12 points.
