FOR the first time in the history of the Miss Universe pageant, a nation has captured the title two years in a row. In late August, 2008 winner Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela passed her crown on to countrywoman Stefania Fernandez. The feat should not come as a huge surprise, though, since Venezuela has in recent years become one of the world's beauty capitals.
