YOU can learn a lot about a country by looking at the books that are challenged or banned in its schools. Last week, the American Library Association released its annual list of titles that were targeted for censorship by local officials, schools and parents in the last year. None resulted in a national ban, but of the 513 cases, 74 local bans or restrictions were approved.
