RECENTLY, our university held a memorial service for Xiaoming, one of the peacekeepers who died because of the earthquake in Haiti. What made it special was not the fact that he was a hero, but because he was an alumnus. He was the head of the student union and a great athlete when he was here, and he was an idol for students like me just after they arrive here. Notes were posted on the school BBS, paying tribute to this “brother-in-arms”. His death has caused many here at school to follow in his steps to make a contribution to the country and the world.
