May 25, 1961: US President John F. Kennedy declared his intention of putting an American astronaut on the moon by the end of the decade. It was time of the space race between America and Russia. In July, 1969 Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon, thereby fulfilling Kennedy’s vision and beating Russia.
