Destruction to Old Summer Palace to be remembered

OCTOBER 18, 1860 was a dark day for Beijing’s Yuanmingyuan Park, or the “Old Summer Palace”. On that day, the British and French armies looted (劫掠) the park. They took a lot of valuable things and burnt (烧) the Palace down.
