A MALAYSIAN orangutan (红毛猩猩) has an unusual problem – she has to quit smoking. Shirley the orangutan was living in the Johor state zoo. Recently activists (某种活动的积极分子) drew attention to her unhealthy habit. There were “No Smoking” signs, but zoo visitors would still throw smoking cigarettes into Shirley’s cage. She would then pick them up and smoke them – something she had learned from watching people. Shirley is being transferred (转移) to a wildlife center on Borneo Island. She will be forced to give up her habit.
