MORE than 50 years ago, a shepherd (牧羊人) boy saw a cave on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea and climbed inside. He found some clay pots, which were filled with scrolls (卷轴) of ancient manuscripts (手稿). More of them were later discovered in another 10 caves. They are now known as the Dead Sea Scrolls, which are a collection of texts from the Hebrew Bible and other documents.
