A SINGLE Israeli soldier has been exchanged for more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.

Gilad Shalit, 25, imprisoned in the Gaza Strip for over five years by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which rules the area, was released on October 18.
