THE sub-zero temperatures in Europe at the moment have hit the tourism industry hard – in more ways than one. The Manneken-Pis, a fountain of a young boy peeing (撒尿) that is the icon (标志) of Brussels, Belgium, has been turned off for fear of ice damage. Officials promise it is a temporary (暂时的) measure, and that the boy should be peeing again in no time. The bronze statue has stood on the same corner since the 1600s. It owns more than 800 festive outfits (服装), which it wears to celebrate different city holidays and events. Perhaps the statue needs a pair of thermal pants (保暖裤).
