AVRIL Lavigne has told FHM magazine that she used to be a school sports champion. The 27-year-old Canadian singer was a star ice hockey (冰球) player for a boys’ team. She believes that her sporting background helped her career because it taught her to be “tough” (坚强的) and compete with the opposite sex. “I have always been very athletic,” said Lavigne. “I was MVP [most valuable player] two years in a row. The boys did not go easy on me either. I had to play like one of the boys to survive and it was good for me.”
