China allows both modern Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine in medical treatment. However, unlike experience-based traditional Chinese medicine, modern Western medicine considers the meridian system non-existent, as no evidence has been proved its existence, Li Tiantian, who holds a PhD in bioinformatics, told China Daily.
