The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is scheduled to start on Nov 8 in Beijing, in the Great Hall of the People. It will usher in a new central collective leadership, as a new CPC Central Committee and a new Central Commission for Discipline Inspection will be elected during the congress. This will be the start of a new political cycle that will be of tremendous global importance. A total of 2,270 delegates have been elected to represent the country’s 82 million Party members at the upcoming congress.
