China sent its first medical aid team to Algeria in 1963. Since then, more than 170,000 medical personnel have been placed in 48 African countries treating more than 200 million patients, according to China Daily. During his visit to the Republic of Congo, Chinese President Xi Jinping thanked Chinese volunteers for the outstanding services they have provided to local residents and the honor they have earned for their country.
