CHINESE people aged 18-70 read 4.39 paper books on average (平均地) in 2012, according to a national reading survey by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication. This is far behind many other countries. People in South Korea read an average of 11 books and people in Japan read 8.4 in 2011.
