The “Duffin” is a muffin-shaped baked doughnut filled with fresh berry jam, dipped in butter and coated in sugar. It was invented by American baker Bea Vo in the London bakery Bea’s of Bloomsbury in 2011. In October this year, Starbucks UK began to sell the pastry hybrid and trademarked the name “Duffin”, which led to a conflict between Vo and Starbucks.
