I COME from a family of serious popcorn makers. My memories of childhood are tied to the sound of corn kernels (粒) hitting the pan, the ping-ping-ping of them bursting (爆炸), the smell of popped corn coming into the room and the deliciously buttery fingers that had to be licked.
