Magical realist earns award
CHINESE writer Yan Lianke, 56, was awarded the Franz Kafka Prize on May 27, according to the Czech News Agency.
He is the first Chinese, and only the second Asian after Japan’s Haruki Murakami in 2006, to win the honor.
