THE island nation of Madagascar is located off the eastern coast (海岸) of southern Africa, in the Indian Ocean. It is home to some of Earth’s most precious animals – lemurs (狐猴). Lemurs landed on the island more than 60 million years ago. Unfortunately, only a few lemur species are left. More than 90 percent of Madagascar’s forests have been destroyed, and the number of lemur species has been reduced to less than 20.
