WOOLLY mammoths (长毛猛犸象) were huge animals that were up to 4 meters in height and 10 tons in weight. They were thought to have died out around 10,000 years ago. But now scientists said they could now clone (克隆) them. In May 2013, scientists discovered an almost complete woolly mammoth carcass (残骸) in Siberia, Russia. They even found red liquid (液体) that may be the mammoth’s blood. Scientists believe it would be possible to clone the Ice Age animal if living cells are found. A TV documentary about the woolly mammoth’s autopsy (解剖) will air later this month.
