Test system in Chilean schools

CHILEAN schools have a difficult test system. Every week, there are about two tests in different subject areas. These tests usually contain 50 multiple-choice questions and a section of short essay questions. Each subject has a final exam at the end of a semester. Overall (总之), putting test and project scores together, each Chilean teacher must choose around four to eight scores at the end of the semester. The average of those scores is the student’s grade for that year. These total grades over four years of high school are put on the student’s transcript (成绩单) to apply to universities. For example, in my Spanish literature class this semester, we‘ve taken two tests on literature and four tests on grammar, performed a play as a part of a project, and had a class discussion on a book. Each part was given a score by the teachers. The final exam counts as 25 percent of the semester grade.
