A brilliant Belgian

AGATHA Christie’s stories are set in much less threatening settings (背景) than those of Poe and Conan Doyle. A typical Christie, like this 1926 novel, takes place in the English countryside with a cast (阵容) of middle class characters. The rather creepy (吓人的), urban environments in which Dupin and Holmes work are not for her.
