THOUSANDS of astronomy enthusiasts headed to Indonesia to catch a rare event that lasted 249 seconds on March 9, the country’s first total solar eclipse (日食) in nearly 33 years. The eclipse was total in Indonesia and the Central Pacific, while parts of Australia and Asia, including some southern parts of China, only experienced a partial (部分的) one.
