One of the loudest voices to emerge in the wake of Qandeel Baloch’s murder was that of filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Herself a Pakistani, Obaid-Chinoy is intimately familiar with the subject of honor killings. She only just won an Academy Award earlier in the year, for her documentary on the subject, A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness.
