Since actor Wang Baoqiang released his divorce statement, many of his celebrity friends have stood up to support him. Those who have so far remained silent, however, are under huge pressure from internet users to speak out. Director and actor Xu Zheng has worked together with Wang on Lost on Journey (《人在囧途》, 2010) and Lost in Thailand (《泰囧》,2012). His microblog account has been flooded with comments like “why didn’t you speak for Wang?” On Aug 19, Xu posted a screenshot of these comments, *denouncing what was implied to be “moral coercion”. “What he needs now is calmness and private space... Don’t turn his divorce into an internet farce,” he wrote.
