A term coined by Nev Schulman, a victim who made a film in 2010 about his experience before later producing a popular series for US entertainment channel MTV, catfishing is when someone attempts to lure you into an online relationship by using a fake *persona. While most are scammers out for cash, some are just lonely people looking for love. According to Schulman, these are some points to look out for to determine if your online romance is really just catfishing you:
