New Chinese TV drama In the Name of People (《人民的名义》) has gripped (抓住) millions of viewers across the country after its high-profile debut (首播) last month on Hunan TV. The blunt (直率的) “Jingzhou” Party chief Li Dakang, played by actor Wu Gang, has risen to fame on the show. Viewers now regularly make online emojis (表情包) featuring (以……为特色) his character, and even copies of the water glass he uses in the show sell like hot cakes on online shopping platforms. Wu Gang said this was his first time playing an official. “It is difficult to shape the character, so I watched many videos before acting,” he told TopNews.
