China closed several popular paparazzi accounts on social media on June 7, reported the Global Times. It was part of efforts to clean up the cyber (网络的) environment. For example, Sina Weibo closed 19 accounts that spread rumors (谣言) and damaged people’s reputations. It included the well-known “China’s No 1 Paparazzi, Zhuo Wei”. The account has released information about celebrities’ private lives and sex scandals (丑闻) many times. It had about 7 million followers before being shut down. Many internet users applauded (赞同) Sina Weibo’s move.
