This story is set in Nazi Germany at the start of World War II. Liesel Meminger is a 12-year-old girl. Her family can’t take care of her and her brother. So they have to go to a different family. On the way there, her brother dies. She feels so sad that she begins to read a book she has stolen. The book is her only connection (联系) with her brother.
