Shanghai High School International Division hosted its annual (一年一度的) art festival for the ninth and tenth grades this winter. This year, I watched it not from the seats in the audience, but backstage (后台) as a host and performer. It was my first time being a host at one of these events. I got to watch students nervously and excitedly awaiting their turn – singers humming the chorus (合唱曲) of their songs, dancers tapping their feet to the beat, and pianists tapping their fingers on an imaginary keyboard. It was like being able to see behind the scenes (场景) of a movie, and even better, one that I was a part of. I remember walking upstage every third or fourth performance with my host partner. I got to note just how much effort every student and teacher had put into their performance, and I got to see their hard work pay off onstage. This truly was a delightful (令人愉快的) show to be a part of, and its success gave me a great feeling of accomplishment (成就).
