JUST ASK | 成长不烦恼

本文作者: DALE
Q

Dear Dale,

I’m upset because I feel like I can’t do anything right. I feel nervous in front of people, my classmates seem like they’re better than me, and I don’t have any confidence. What can I do?Memories

A

Dear Memories,

Whether we’re a student or a movie star, we always think there’s someone who’s better than we are.

But while this is completely natural, we shouldn’t let it take over our lives.

First of all, there’s no such thing as “perfection” when it comes to being a human being. We’re all better – and worse – at certain things than others.

Being different is what makes the world such an interesting place, and we should be proud of who we are and what we can do.

So, instead of spending time focusing on other people, simply focus on yourself .

Start by sitting down in your bedroom one night and taking out a pen and some paper. On the paper, write down all the great things about yourself and all the great things you’ve achieved (取得).

When you’re done, carry this piece of paper with you, and when you’re feeling down, simply take it out and read every word on it to yourself.

Loving yourself is the first step toward gaining (获得) confidence, so always remind (提醒) yourself of how great you are. You’ll soon see that once your opinion of yourself changes, you’ll become a more confident and happier person.Dale
