Asian elephants are the “kings of math” in the animal world. According to Japanese scientists, Asian elephants’ understanding of numbers is close to that of humans. When looking at a picture of several watermelons, the animal can count the right number of melons most of the time. The size of the fruit and the distance (距离) between each fruit doesn’t affect (影响) their ability to count.

According to researchers from Australian National University, people who grow up with books at home are better at reading and communicating with others. The giant is disappearing

Pando is a group of 47,000 aspen trees (白杨树) in the US. It is the largest organism (有机体) on Earth. But scientists from Utah State University have found that the giant is shrinking (缩减). The main reason for this is that animals such as mule deer (骡鹿) and cattle are eating the younger trees, while the older trees are dying off. Building fences (栅栏) might save some of the trees. TEENS
