Italian fashion brand Dolce and Gabbana (D&G) is facing a large-scale backlash from Chinese e-commerce platforms and consumers, reported China Daily. It came after a D&G video posted on Nov 18 showed an Asian woman eating Western food with chopsticks awkwardly (笨拙地). The video was accused of racism (种族歧视). Then several screenshots (屏幕截图) posted online later showed the brand’s designer Stefano Gabbana making insulting (侮辱的) references toward China. These angered Chinese people and D&G later canceled a show that was scheduled (安排) for Nov 21. Before the cancellation, many Chinese celebrities, including Zhang Ziyi, Wang Junkai and Chen Kun, announced they would not attend the show.
