Can we cure cancer?
癌症可以治愈吗?
Most kinds of cancer will be treatable (可治疗的) by 2050, according to Japanese researcher Tasuku Honjo. He and US researcher James P Allison won the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. They developed a cancer treatment that can strengthen our immune system (免疫系统) and help us fight cancer cells (细胞). The treatment might be useful to most types of cancer.

The sound of Mars
人类首次听到火星风声。
What does Martian wind sound like? NASA’s InSight lander “heard” it on Dec 1. It recorded vibrations (震动) from its two solar panels (太阳能电池板) when wind hit them. The sound was deep. Scientists think that the speed of the wind was between 10 to 15 miles per hour (5 to 7 meters per second). These were the first sounds from Mars to be heard by humans, the Guardian reported.

The sound of Mars
地球深部生物圈。
Are there life forms deep inside Earth? There are nearly 300 to 400 times as many microbes (微生物) underground as there are humans on Earth, according to scientists from the Deep Carbon Observatory. They studied ecosystems (生态系统) that exist between Earth’s surface (表面) and its core (核心). Their research will help us learn more about what makes a livable planet.
