A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1595/1596) is among the most beloved of Shakespeare’s works. Both professionals and amateurs have regularly performed it for four centuries. The drama (戏剧) has also been adapted into other forms. There have been musical versions of the Dream, ballets (芭蕾舞剧) and movies. The play especially appeals to children, because of the presence of fairy (精灵) characters who disturb the smooth running of the world. It’s a lot of fun.
