Beauty, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is “a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic (审美的) senses, especially the sight”. But in my opinion, this definition misses an important detail – beauty is subjective (主观的). People say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (情人眼里出西施)”. Beauty is based on one’s own taste. While something could be beautiful to one person, another person might find that same thing ugly.
