According to The New York Times, by June 2, protests (抗议) had erupted in at least 140 cities across the United States after George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died after being placed under arrest (逮捕) by a white officer on May 25. Despite mobilization (动用) of the National Guard, violence and destruction of property (财产) have broken out across major cities.
