Delving into history
本文作者: TEENS
With considerable efforts in processing (查阅) historical materials, interviewing witnesses (亲历者) and building scenarios (场景), The Eight Hundred (《八佰》) directed by Guan Hu finally hit the big screen on Aug 21. The film is based on the arduous (艰苦的) Battle of Shanghai in 1937 where around 400 Chinese soldiers defended a warehouse (保卫仓库) against the invading Japanese army. “It is an unprecedented story. But many young people have no idea about it. The film could help them understand this relatively unknown chapter in Chinese history ... I think to be stronger, a nation can’t forget their past,” Guan told Shanghai Observer.
