A new robot was recently developed to help doctors complete surgical (外科的) tasks. Developed by engineers at Harvard University and Sony Corporation, the robot is around the size of a tennis ball. The design is inspired by origami – the Japanese art of folding paper. Its materials are layered on top of one another, which makes it far smaller than other machines in the field. Researchers found that the robot is 68 percent more accurate than a hand-operated instrument. The robot is “expanding the playbook of doctors and enabling them to carry out procedures with new levels of precision (精确度) and control”, according to New Atlas.
